Cards, Lady Cards start seasons

The Lingleville Cardinals basketball boys were sitting at 1-2 for the season heading into Tuesday’s game against Brookesmith. The Cards started the season strong with a 46-14 victory over the Gustine Tigers at Gustine on Nov. 10.

The Dublin Lions basketball boys leapt into the season with an 81-76 away win over the Brownwood Lions on Nov. 14. “It was an intense game with a playoff atmosphere and a great way to start off the year,” said head Lions basketball coach Wes Grisham.
The Dublin Lady Lions traveled to Hamilton for the basketball tournament, claiming 5th place out of 16 teams. BROWNWOOD GOOD. Water stained; 62-68 degrees; 8.41 feet below pool. Black bass are in an early fall pattern. Catches up to 5.48 pounds are fair on jigs, and on crankbaits in 1-12 feet of water. Crappie are fair to 1.00 pound on brush piles and around the docks on minnows in 10-12 feet of water.

Lady Lions were treated to an exciting battle and victory Friday on the home court as Dublin took on Bangs. The home team was down 9-17 at half time but closed the gap mightily in the second half. “We faced a lot of adversity that game,” said head girls basketball coach Kim Perez.

LHS Ladies named all-district

Several Lady Cardinal volleyball players were named all-district last week following their undefeated district season that ended in the area playoffs. Rosio Hernandez was named All-District Libero of the Year. Emma Hudson was named offensive player of the year.

Lady Lions hosted Bangs in the Roy and Lynn Neff Gym on Friday, Nov. 10 in a match-up that resulted in a victory for the home team.
