Lions, Ladies battle through schedule

The Dublin Lions racked up points against Brock and Early last week but struggles in the opening quarters led to difficult climbs.

The Lions faced Brock in a 103-46 away loss on Tuesday, Jan. 16.

“We struggled early in the game but started playing our style of basketball,” said head Lions basketball coach Wes Grisham. “Brock was very sound on defense to get steals for layups against us.”

Alex Teten led scoring for Dublin with 16 followed by Kaden Gaitan with 13. Kyson Gilman snagged 7 while Francisco Garcia and Aiden Salyer scored 3 each.

Dane Lewis scored 2 and Aidan Hernandez and Jacob Arnal each had 1 The Lions followed this with a close 48-40 defeat against Early on Friday, Jan. 19.

“We had so many opportunities to win the game but the ball just wouldn’t fall in the hoop,” said Grisham. “Our comeback was just how we should play but late in the 4th quarter, we couldn’t make a basket.”

Gaitan led scoring with 15 pts, 4 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. Hernandez followed with 7 points, 7 rebounds and a charge. Garcia snagged 6 points and 2 rebounds. Gilman racked up 6 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals.

Lewis had 4 points and 3 rebounds. Teten scored 2 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists. Salyer had 4 rebounds, 3 charges and an assist.
