The Dublin Lions fought a close battle with the Millsap Bulldogs (falling 72-63) at home Friday, Jan. 26.
“We had a really good start to the game and we were in control most of the game like we wanted,” said head Lions basketball coach Wes Grisham, who reported that Millsap started gaining ground in the third. “We had it tied up in the 4th Q with 2 min left and it seemed like we couldn’t get the ball to fall. They made their free throws to pull away after we intentionally fouled to gain possession ,but even then the ball wouldn’t fall.”
Alex Teten led scoring or Dublin with 22 pts, 1 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals.
Kaden Gaitan followed with 17 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists and 5 steals.
Aidan Hernandez scored 16 pts, 12 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 steals and a charge.
Carson Ivie put in 6 points and 2 rebounds.
Aiden Salyer had 2 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 steals and a charge.
This followed a 73-33 away loss to Peaster on Tuesday, Jan. 23.
“We had a lot of guys out or coming back from illness,” said Grisham of Dublin’s light bench during the game. “But I thought we executed the game plan after we settled down. We were in the right spots, just had a hard time making shots. We had a close game early but our turnovers helped Peaster score the easy buckets to get ahead.”
Teten led scoring with 11 pts, 2 rebounds, 1 assist and 3 steals.
Gaitan had 9 points, 4 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 steals.
Hernandez scored 6 points, 2 rebounds, 1 assist and a charge.
Salyer had 3 points, 2 rebounds and a steal.
Kyson Gilman scored 3 pts, 1 rebound and a steal.
Francisco Garcia completed a free throw and 3 rebounds.
