The Dublin Lady Lions faced Peaster and Millsap for the second time in the district schedule with a close fight against the Greyhounds and gaining ground on the Bulldogs.

The Lady Lions faced Peaster in a 38-26 away loss Tuesday, Jan. 23.

“We were tied at 6 going to the second quarter,” said head Lady Lions basketball coach Kim Perez of the match against the team previously beaten by the Dublin girls.

“We were down 3 at the half 14-11,” she continued. “We tried coming back too late in the game and ended going 1-1 against them in district.”

Olivia Salyer led scoring with 11 points. Emma Vargas followed with 6. Derby Kukla and Adriana Stewart had 3 each, Adriana Rosalez had 2, and Ingrid Hernandez scored 1.

On Friday, Jan. 25, The Lady Lions took on the Millsap Bulldogs, which they previously lost to 64-22. The Lady Lions fell by a narrower gap on Friday, 54-39.

“We played Millsap at home and came out with much better energy than the first match up with them,” said Perez. “We got outscored in the second 15-9. We were 8-22 from the line and that hurt us. I’m pleased with the effort we brought out.”

Salyer led scoring with 19. Kukla had 7. Stewart had 6. Wendy Calderon had 3 and Hernandez and Vargas had 2.
