100 years ago May 4, 1923 The annual convention of the Erath County Sacred Harp Singing Association is to assemble in Dublin at 10 o’clock tomorrow morning and to continue in session during the day of Saturday, with a Saturday night session and an all day meeting Sunday.

Texas Steak Cookoff May 20

The Texas Steak Cookoff is quickly approaching and citizens are invited to come on over to Hico for some great food, fun and music. The event begins Friday, May 19 with a cookoff kickoff party with the Burger Bash and Street Dance. The Original Texas Steak Cookoff event begins at 10 a.m.

Farming accident injures one

First Responders were sent to a rural portion of north Erath County Monday, May 1 for what appears to be a farming accident. The incident occurred at the property of 3555 CR 132 in north Rural Erath County.

EDC settled in new home

The Dublin Economic Development Corporation held a brief meeting Tuesday, April 25 to deal with a slew of agenda items. The EDC board was happy to report they are now officially moved over to their new home at Blackjack Office Center in downtown Dublin.

The City-Wide Garage Sale is returning to Dublin on May 27-28 , giving Dubliners a chance to sell unwanted items right before the city hosts the popular Dublin Clean city-wide clean up on June 3.

Fishing report

BROWNWOOD Water slightly stained; 65-70 degrees; 9.05 feet below pool. Black bass to 11.17 pounds are good on topwater walking baits, Alabama rigs, jigs, and crankbaits in 4-18 feet of water . The bass are in post spawn and following the shad spawn.
