Knights of Columbus hosts second annual Hispanic Heritage Festival

The second annual Knights of Columbus Hispanic Heritage Festival took place Saturday, Sept. 12 at the Stephenville City Park. Stephenville Boxing Club offered its annual Lights Out Boxing Tournament, while people enjoyed sno-cones in the park combating high temperatures.

Departments battle grass fire on CR 343

Numerous departments including Dublin VFD fought a grass fire on CR 343 over the weekend. Though the grass fire caught a vacant home on fire, thanks to the hard work of the department, numerous nearby homes were saved. Erath County remains under a burn ban and is in severe drought conditions.

Shive Vol. Fire Department Fish Fry SaturdayShive Volunteer Fire Department will host its annual fundraising fish fry event from 6-8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 19.The meal is by donation and everyone is invited to attend organizers said. SVFD is located in Hamilton.

Dublin Garden club kicks off 2026 learning about birds

The Dublin Garden Club kicked off our fall meetings Sept. 9th at the Dublin Church of Christ Fellowship Hall. It was great to see everyone again after our summer break. We want to thank the Church of Christ for always being generous and supportive of our organization.

Post 240 unveils lasting tribute to victims of Agent Orange

Turnbow Higgs American Legion Post 240 unveiled a solemn and enduring tribute during its August 2026 Third Tuesday Joint Meal Meeting, where Commander Frank Maddy presented a newly created Agent Orange Memorial Plaque.

Erath County Commissioners Court: County lowers tax rate

Erath County Commissioners Court approved a lower tax rate and adopted its budget including a 3% raise for all county employees at its Monday, Sept. 14 meeting.With this year’s tax rate, the county has approved lower than the no-new-revenue rate, and adopted $.3700 per $100 valuation.

Ribbon cutting held for KPW Law

Kimberly Pack Wilson and staff were joined by Stephenville Chamber of Commerce members, friends neighbors and well-wishers for a ribbon cutting at her law firm inside a historic house at 385 S. Belknap right next to the old Erath County Annex parking lot in Stephenville.
