LISD starts seasons soon

Lingleville Head Coach Steven Bailey recently sent out a letter inviting the community to ‘Meet the Cardinals’ Sunday and outlining practice for the upcoming seasons. Meet the Cardinals is set for Sunday with a meet and greet at 6:30 p.m., meal at 7 p.m. and coaches presentation at 7:30 p.m.

DABC Golf tourney Saturday

The Dublin Athletic Booster Club is hosting the annual golf tournament on July 30 at PAR Country Club, benefitting the Dublin High School athletics program. Entry into the fourperson scramble event is $75 per person or $300 per team. Entry fees include green fees, carts, breakfast and lunch.

BROWNWOOD GOOD. Water slightly stained; 84-87 degrees; 4.61 feet low. Bass fair to good with catches up to eight pounds on shaky heads, crankbaits and jigs in the stick ups and between docks. Topwater will work early and late in the day. Crappie are excellent with catches up to 1.

The growth of Tarleton State University continued in a big way Monday morning with the grand opening of the Athletics Administration and Academic Success Building. “The commitment to academics was the driving force behind our move to NCAA Division I,” said Tarleton President James Hurley.

Dublin FFA officers attended the 94th annual state FFA convention in Fort Worth last week, starting the trip by sitting in on leadership workshops and watching state public speaking finals.

Lions return to field Aug. 1

With the 2022 season just around the corner, the Dublin Lions will return to the Bob and Norma Cervetto Field for the first day of practice Monday, Aug. 1. Players are asked to report by 5 a.m. to be fitted for their helmet and workout gear as coaches want to be on the field at 5:30 a.m.

DISD hosts registration on Aug. 3

Dublin Elementary School is hosting registration for pre-K, kindergarten and new students on Aug. 3. Registration will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the elementary library. For pre-K, students must be 4 years old on or before Sept.

Dublin, Lingleville and Stephenville graduates were among 15 outstanding area student that United Cooperative Services presented a combined $43,000 in scholarships on Thursday. Of the 15 scholarship awards, 12 were in the amount of $2,000.
