Lingleville Cardinals’ record flew to 4-1 Thursday night after a 68-22 home game against the Iredell Dragons ended in the fourth quarter under the 45-point mercy rule.

“The boys came out a little slow but really picked it up,” said LHS head football coach Trent Taylor. “Our line did a fantastic job all night long as we ran for 455 yards on the ground.”

“Our defensive made a ton of great plays and finished the game strong,” he continued. “Iredell is going to be really good in a couple years. They played very hard and gave us a great game.”

This win was aided by Izzy Juarez who carried the ball over the goal line for six of the home team touchdowns. Juarez rushed for 302 yards, received for 45 and was co-leader in tackles with 14.

Jorge Toledo also had 14 tackles and helped with 94 yards in passing.

Cruz Alarcon completed two TDs and had 126 yards in rushing and six tackles. Leon Cruz followed through with the other TD.

Joe Dominguez went 7 for 7 in Point After Touchdown (PAT) kicks.

Xavier Figueroa also aided defense in racking up five tackles.
