While Mother’s Day is an annual opportunity to be pampered by your family, you shouldn’t actually wait for a special occasion to indulge in self-care.
Members of the Dublin Volunteer Fire Department fought a container fire Friday, May 5 on Central Street. According to Fire Chief Paul Warner there was ammo and reloading supplies in the container, making the department take their time with the approach and cooling down the container prior to entering it. According to the Erath County Fire Marshal’s office, preliminary investigation is leading to the fire’s cause being electrical. Submitted photo

With the recent moisture, fire ant mounds have been popping up all over. With the warmer temperatures, fire ants’ activity levels will only increase. The recent years of drought have actually hurt fire ant populations.

AgriLife Extension district reporters compiled the following summary for the Central Texas district for last week: Some severe weather was reported with rain totals ranging from 0.52.5 inches. Soil moisture was adequate to short. There were reports of large, severe hail and damaging winds.

Dubliner in PBR World Finals

Dubliner Jesse Petri, 25, is among 40 riders who have qualified to compete in the 2023 Professional Bull Riders World Finals, set for May 12-21 at Fort Worth’s Dickies Arena. PBR ranks Petri in 11th place leading up to the event following some big wins during the 2023 season.
