Operation Christmas Child starting soon

Even though Halloween is still weeks away, Erath organizers of Operation Christmas Child are encouraging people to be mindful of the giving season to ensure a happy day for children in need around the world.

Tarleton enrollment grows again

Tarleton State University has scored all-time-high enrollment yet again. Based on 12th class day numbers, the university begins fall 2023 up 8.6% from a year ago, serving 16,230 students and outpacing many institutions nationwide.

The Dublin Public Library is inviting everyone to get into the Halloween spirit and raise money for the local mainstay as they host “Tell Your Spooky Story.” Businesses and individuals are invited to pick a favorite creepy classic and create an outdoor display in honor of it.

Sales tax increases by 15%

Dublin sales tax collections were up significantly in July, at 15.49% higher compared to July 2022, according to the state sales tax report released by Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar this month. For the month of July 2023, Dublin received $48,238.10, compared to $41,765.34 in July 2022.

Dublin High School students treated residents of Three Oaks to a delicious lunch of lasagna, salad and garlic bread on Tuesday, Sept. 19 in honor of National Assisted Living Week.

Burn ban off

Thanks to some much needed rain, Erath County Judge Brandon Huckabee has canceled the burn ban for the county. Over the weekend, a temporary lifting of the burn ban took place followed by an announcement Monday, Sept. 18 that the burn ban which was placed in July 20, 2023, has now been canceled.

County opens new annex

Erath County is set to open its new County Annex building next week and the brand new building will accommodate the growth the county is needing for now and in the future. The building currently known as County Annex No. 2 is located at 222 E.

Hispanic Heritage on horizon

Dublin’s annual Hispanic Heritage Festival hosted by the Dublin Chamber of Commerce is right around the corner and will be held Friday, Sept. 29 and Saturday, Sept. 30. The event will kick off with a free outdoor movie event at 7:30 p.m. on the Dublin Public Library lawn.
