Women’s Missionary Union to meet The Women’s Missionary Union will be hosting a meeting each month on the second Thursday. The meeting is held at noon at Community Baptist Church located at 505 West Mesquite Street. WMU is a community-based women’s group.

Police Log

Aug. 21 Report of a dog bite was referred to Erath County. The reporting person requested a welfare check on an elderly male whose electric wheelchair battery died and he can’t go anywhere. A 6-year-old girl was bit by a family cat. The call was referred to animal control.

100 years ago Sept. 7, 1923 Dublin is the best cotton market in this section of the country. Farmers are receiving from 25 to 35 points per pound above what is paid in the near-by towns. Cotton is being hauled here from points beyond our neighboring cities because it brings a higher price here.

Mixing and Mingling

Chamber officials greeted the public at the Dublin Chamber of Commerce’s Mixer at Grafton Center Thursday. The come-and-go event was highly attended with terrific door prizes and refreshments. The event gave chamber members the chance to network with one another.

7th Brigade Muster, Living History this weekend in Proctor

Those interested in history may want to check out an event hosted by the Central Texas Brigade in Proctor this weekend. The inaugural fall 7th Brigade Muster and Living History will held Sept. 8-10.

Texas fruit conference Oct. 18-20

The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service’s annual Texas Fruit Conference is set for Oct. 18-20 in Fredericksburg with registration now accepted. Peaches are one of many fruits that will be discussed during the 2023 Texas Fruit Conference that will be held Oct. 18-20 in Fredericksburg.
