Erath County officials reported three new cases of COVID-19 in the report from Monday, March 11 that was released Friday morning. Total deaths since March were reported at 67 by the Department of State Health Services. Total COVID-19 cases increased by 10 (3,079 to 3,107) in the past week.

Tarleton State University nursing students are helping administer COVID-19 vaccinations across Texas and gaining valuable practical skills.

BROWNWOOD Water stained; 46 degrees; 2.98 low. Largemouth bass are slow with crankbaits and jigs near creeks. Crappie are fair on minnows in brush piles and timber edges near a creek channel or drop-off. White bass and hybrids are fair on slabs and swimbaits in the creeks.

Farm credit groups donate to Ag Relief

On Friday, Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller announced Capital Farm Credit and multiple Farm Credit Associations have committed to a generous donation of $125,000 to the Texas Department of Agriculture’s (TDA) State of Texas Agriculture Relief (STAR) Fund.

ECAD offers Property Tax Relief

Due to the winter storms that occurred in mid-February 2021, the Governor of Texas declared all 254 counties in the state to be in a disaster. The Texas property tax code allows for a temporary exemption for physical property damage due to the acts associated with the disaster.

MUSEUM MATTERS

December 16, 1950 marked the beginning of the Waco-Eastland Highway Mail Service. It replaced the mail service on the suspended Doodlebug rail car. The modified bus was essentially a post office on wheels.

Chamber seeking nominees for upcoming awards picnic
