Daughters of the Republic of Texas

The Bosque River Chapter of Daughters of the Republic of Texas celebrated Texas History Month by meeting in DeLeon and sharing lunch at the Blue Moon 1881 Restaurant. After lunch members toured the Antique Car Museum then the DeLeon Area Historical Museum.

Turley honored for Ag service

Dubliner and Texas Association of Dairymen President Darren Turley was honored March 14 at the Texas Agricultural Cooperative Council annual meeting in San Antonio for the time he has devoted in order to “foster and promote the development of the agricultural cooperative endeavor.

FISHING REPORT

BROWNWOOD SLOW. Water stained; 56-62 degrees; 8.48 feet below pool. Black bass to 9.27 pounds are excellent on crankbaits in 4-12 feet of water on flats around spawning areas. Alabama rigs around the rocky shoreline near the transition areas from winter to prespawn.

Fundraiser takes aim at predators

A fundraiser has been set benefiting the Mills and Comanche County Predator Control Associations on Sunday, March 26 at Melody Oaks Ranch in Priddy. Doors open at 4 p.m. with a BBQ dinner and auction set for 5 p.m.

Ag programs set for Erath

The Erath County Extension Agency has announced program for Spring: Spring Dairy DOPA Program will be held April 4. 2023 at the Texas AgriLife Extension Center, 1229 N US Highway 281, Stephenville Texas. The DOPA program is hosted by Erath, Comanche, and Hamilton, Texas AgriLife Extension Service.

DISD calendar includes big changes

After months of surveys, discussions and deliberations, the Dublin ISD school board approved the 2023-24 school calendar. Though the board did not approve fully moving to a 4-day week, the approved calendar is a hybrid model that will give students and teachers more days off.
