Gordon Hosting Christmas Tree Extravaganza

Tarleton’s Gordon Center is inviting in for some friendly Christmas competition in the annual Christmas Tree Extravaganza that is now underway.

The annual Christmas Tree Extravaganza showcases trees decorated by businesses in Gordon, Strawn and Mingus. Festooned firs are on display throughout the gallery, and guests are asked to vote for their favorites.

Ballots are available in the museum, and voting will continue until the holiday closure in December. The winner will be announced on social media Jan. 1.

The W.K. Gordon Museum and Research Center is at 65258 Interstate 20, Exit 367, in Mingus and is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays-Saturdays and 1-4 p.m. Sundays.

The combined museum and special collections library is located at the site of the Thurber ghost town.

Visitors enjoy interactive exhibits that explore the birth, operations and slow fade of the town owned by the Texas and Pacific Coal Co.
