Did you know when you walk on the ground your feet are treading on a whole world of organisms? It’s not quite like an episode of the Twilight Zone, but it is an astounding fact that there is more life inside the soil than the life we see above ground. The grass, wildflowers, weeds, and even the cacti all have roots in the ground which require what that underground life produces to survive and to thrive.

The Brookshire Brothers parking lot was filled with delicious smoky smells Saturday, March 9 as Lady Lions and supporters served up a pulled pork sandwich fundraiser. Proceeds from the event went to help buy player banners for the home stadium.

Runoffs set for May 28

After unofficial results for the March 5 joint primary election, there will be two runoff elections May 28 for those who voted in the Republican primary. For the office of Tax Assessor-Collector candidate Valerie Stephen will face off against candidate Niki McInroe-Cogburn.

Council OKs fit project

The Dublin City Council approved grant-related projects, requests from department heads and amended policy during the regular meeting Monday, March 11. Among the grant matters was a request from City Manager Bobby Mendez to move forward with a fitness court project.

Dublin lifters statebound

Dublin High School is sending four powerlifters to state competition following strong performances at regional competition. “The kids have worked their tails off to get to this point and we couldn’t be more proud of them,” said DHS head powerlifting coach Wes Benfer.

DISD bands repeat top honors

Dublin Jr. High and High School bands snagged their best results in years as they traveled to Hamilton High School Wednesday, March 6 for the concert and sight reading evaluation.

Heartlands Renaissance Festival aims to bring the medieval fun closer so newcomers and regulars don’t have to travel to Waxahachie, Austin or Houston for a taste of renaissance faire fun.
