Rylan Strong Car Show Saturday, Aug. 27

The inaugural Rylan Strong Network Car and Bike Show will be held from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 27 at Celebration Park, 198 E. Elm St. in Dublin. There will be music, food and big engines, along with a tattoo raffle and apprentice competition.

This Saturday is the day for the Dublin Market at Wright Park, always colorful, full of variety, friendly people, and wholesome goods. We’ll have the best of summer produce, plus goodies from many kitchens. Come shop under the big shade trees and vendor canopies. Many vendors!

Congressman hosting meetings Thursday

U.S. Representative August Pfluger (TX-11) is coming to the local area on Thursday, Aug. 18 to host town hall meetings in Erath and Comanche. The Erath meeting will be held in the Erath County Courthouse in Stephenville at 4:30 p.m. The Comanche town hall meeting will be held beforehand at 2 p.m.

Aug. 18, 1922 The first bale of 1922 cotton was received in Dublin Tuesday. It was brought in by A.H. De Lay from his farm southeast of town. The bale weighed 1148 pounds in the seed and the bale 386. The cotton was sold to John Mc-Donald at twenty and one fourth cents per pound.

The headlines in the Dublin Progress read “New Playhouse in Dublin has Big Opening Week. The new Majestic Theater in the K of P building opened last Monday night by Thomas Bros. Two immense houses packed the venue. The playhouse was comfortably seated, well lighted and ventilated.

CCHF fundraiser on tap Sept. 17

Preparations for the 17th Annual Comanche County Healthcare Foundation (CCHF) fundraiser are underway with tickets being sold and items for the live and silent auctions being sought. The dinner and live auction event will take place Saturday, Sept.

A reporting person requested a criminal trespass due to damages the people caused to her house. There was a report of a reckless driver failing to maintain a lane on West Blackjack. A person was reported for sleeping in a tent. They were advised to move the tent by the next day.
