Lt. Governor visits Erath county

State of Texas Lt. Governor Dan Patrick recently visited Erath County sharing views on a 131 city bus tour. Patrick, who has been Lt. Governor since 2014 and is seeking re-election in November against Democrat Mike Collier, started a state-wide bus tour Wednesday, Aug.

Rodeo set for this weekend

This weekend will offer a time of remembrance and rodeo fun as the Diamond Cross Rodeo returns for its second year on Friday, Sept. 9-Saturday, Sept. 10. The rodeo will include a 9-11 tribute to honor first responders at the Saturday night event.

Tarleton to host 9/11 ceremony Sunday

Tarleton State University, the city of Stephenville and Erath County are inviting the community to a ceremony on the 21st anniversary of 9-11 to commemorate the nation’s loss and resilience following terrorist attacks that took the lives of nearly 3,000 Americans. The event takes place at 2 p.m.

Aug. 23 There was a report of a male subject hanging around a store in the 1000 block of North Patrick and the reporting person wanted him to leave. A black cow was out near the City Park. A reporting person in the 600 block of Ireland heard the door rattle but did not see anyone.

Fishing Report

BROWNWOOD SLOW. Water slightly stained; 84 degrees; 6.37 feet low. Bass good to five pounds on jigs, Texas rigged worms and crankbaits scattered around the rocky boulders 1-12 feet of water. Crappie to one pound are excellent on minnows 10-13 feet of water over brush piles and structure.

Fruit production in North Texas program Sept. 15

The program “Fruit Production in North Texas: Strawberries, Peaches and Blackberries!” will take place Sept. 15 in Cross Roads. The event is presented by the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service offices in Denton and Tarrant counties.

Library grants to benefit Dublin

Good news abounds for the Dublin Public Library after receiving several grants in the past month. The library received a $4,743 Texas Reads grant from Texas State Library and Archives. These funds will be used for next year’s summer reading program entitled All Together Now.
