100 years ago Sept. 15, 1922 The Erath County Baptist Association met with the Dublin church Tuesday evening of this week. This is the annual meeting of the association and the opening sermon was preached at the church the same evening by the Rev. W.A. Jones of Fort Worth.

Burn ban lifted in Erath

The burn ban has officially been lifted for Erath County after being in place since May. Over the past week the ban had been temporarily lifted by County Judge Alfonso Campos was advised by the fire marshal it was safe to do so.

Dublin PD helped another agency for a reported theft at the Dublin Allsup’s. A male subject stole an alcoholic beverage from the store. A reporting person called in about an injured porcupine on South Liberty. By the time the officer arrived the porcupine had left the scene.

In the 12 years since Jocelyn Zuniga Perez graduated from Dublin High School, she’s gone to cosmetology school, worked as a hairstylist, served as a correctional officer at the Erath County Jail, and built herself a career as a public servant in the office of the Justice of the Peace.

Sales tax shows slight growth

Dublin sales tax collections were up slightly this month, at 4.51% in July, compared to July 2021, according to the state sales tax report released by Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar this month. The majority of August sales tax revenue is based on sales made in July and submitted in August.
