Area Briefs

Fundraiser Oct. 7 for St. Jude's Red Barrel Bar & Grill will be hosting a fundraiser benefitting St. Jude Children’s Hospital from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 7. Brisket sandwiches will be available for $10. There will be a cornhole competition with brackets filled at 10 a.m.

Police Log

Sept. 11 There was a report of a large dog with a chain still attached running around in yards trying to fight other dogs on West Liveoak. The call was referred to Animal Control. A caller stated that someone is dumping items in the Dublin Housing Authority dumpster in the 200 block of East May.

The following individuals were indicted on felony charges by the Erath County Grand Jury Sept. 22.

Hunger Action Month provides opportunities

With September being Hunger Action Month, numerous area clubs and resources are coming together to raise awareness about hunger in America and inspire action.

Comanche Pow Wow

Educators from Gator Country Adventure Park in Beaumont show audience members that 99.9% of the time alligators can be trained as he leans in for a gator kiss. A ‘Fancy dancer’ performs at the annual Comanche Pow Wow. Native Americans from multiple tribes took part in the annual event.

CASA seeks Hispanic volunteers

Sept. 15 marks the beginning of National Hispanic Heritage Month, a time to celebrate the culture and traditions of U.S. residents who trace their roots to Spain, Mexico and the Spanish-speaking nations of Central America, South America and the Caribbean.

Thursday Club hosts President’s luncheon

The Woman’s Thursday Club of Dublin opened their new year Saturday, Sept. 23 with the annual President’s Luncheon. Twelve members and three guests were present.

Weather causes chaos in area

Area residents were awoken late Tuesday, Sept. 19 to crashing thunder, turbulent wind and in some cases damage from unexpected severe weather moving through the area.
