Civil War veteran to be honored

Although Rev. Thomas “Crockett” Capell passed in 1914, a memorial service will be held Saturday, Oct. 14 at 2 p.m. as he is honored by Texas Rangers Association and the Sons of Confederate Veterans for his service.

While driving throughout downtown Dublin, citizens may spot a bunch of purple ribbons tied on bushes at the Corner Lot.

EDC approves grants

The Dublin Economic Development Corporation recently approved a slew of grants for business improvements at its Tuesday, Sept. 26 meeting.

Court talks bids

A slew of bids for upcoming projects were opened and discussed at the Sept. 27 Erath County Commissioners Court meeting. The court unveiled a single sealed bid for technology upgrades to the justice center at a cost of about $104,000 from Justice AV Solutions, Inc.

Fundraiser Oct. 7 for St. Jude's Red Barrel Bar & Grill will be hosting a fundraiser benefitting St. Jude Children’s Hospital from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 7. Brisket sandwiches will be available for $10. There will be a cornhole competition with brackets filled at 10 a.m.

Police Log

Sept. 11 There was a report of a large dog with a chain still attached running around in yards trying to fight other dogs on West Liveoak. The call was referred to Animal Control. A caller stated that someone is dumping items in the Dublin Housing Authority dumpster in the 200 block of East May.

Indictments named
