The Stephenville Cattle Company will host its annual Round-Up for Rehab auction and gun raffle on Saturday, Oct. 21 at noon. Owners Troy and Cheryl Moore are once again hosting the sale of a wide variety of items benefiting the West Texas Rehabilitation Center.

Saturday, Oct. 14 will bring the first of two solar eclipses within a six month period and Tarleton invites the public to the planetarium to witness the event (see later in the story).

Several Halloween events are on the horizon as spooky season has officially commenced. The Dublin Chamber of Commerce’s annual Safe Trick-or-Treat will be held Tuesday, Oct. 31 starting at 5 p.m. in the downtown area. Businesses will be handing out all kinds of treats.

Amidst a slew of agenda items, Erath County Commissioners moved swiftly through their meeting Tuesday, Oct. 10. The meeting was moved to Tuesday due to county offices being closed for Indigenous Peoples’ Day/ Columbus Day.

Museum Matters

The old Parish Hall at the Trinity Church was used for a number of years for programs for local students. I remember taking a 4-H cooking class there hosted by Ann Gibson. I learned to make peanut butter cookies in the little stove that sat in the corner.
