Veteran honored with Quilt of Valor

A special Quilt of Valor Foundation award was recently presented to 90-year-old veteran Wiley Ray LaBaume.The surprise quilt presentation occurred Saturday, May 30 at Granny Clark’s and was presented by Quilters Judy Angle and Peggy DeLaVergne.

Big Brothers, Big Sisters Golf Tourney setA golf tournament fundraiser for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Erath County is set Friday, June 12 at Legends Country Club (137 Ben Hogan, Stephenville).Entry fees are $500 for each 4-man team in the scramble. Hole sponsorships are available for $150 each.

The following first responder calls were made June 1-June 8. Local first responders handled 52 calls during this time frame and PD completed 11 traffic stops.Dublin PD June 1A code enforcement call was completed.

Road closures to affect Erath traffic

Two upcoming construction projects in Erath County may affect drivers. Weather permitting, construction is beginning to replace the County Road 351 bridge at Bell Branch north of Dublin. Traffic is currently being directed through a signed detour route. Drivers should expect delays.

Man arrested for firearm smuggling

A man previously arrested in Erath County was recently arrested on firearm smuggling charges out of Parker County.Yazan Wesley Adel was arrested for the offense of Firearm Smuggling – Three or More Firearms, a Second-Degree felony.

Stephenville’s City Park was packed last week as crowds’ celebrated Erath County’s ties and rich history with the dairy industry at the annual Moo-La Fest. Live music draws spectators to the Birdsong Amphiteater while younger guests get in the spirit by dancing the Macarena.
