Burn ban off

Thanks to some much needed rain, Erath County Judge Brandon Huckabee has canceled the burn ban for the county. Over the weekend, a temporary lifting of the burn ban took place followed by an announcement Monday, Sept. 18 that the burn ban which was placed in July 20, 2023, has now been canceled.

County opens new annex

Erath County is set to open its new County Annex building next week and the brand new building will accommodate the growth the county is needing for now and in the future. The building currently known as County Annex No. 2 is located at 222 E.

Hispanic Heritage on horizon

Dublin’s annual Hispanic Heritage Festival hosted by the Dublin Chamber of Commerce is right around the corner and will be held Friday, Sept. 29 and Saturday, Sept. 30. The event will kick off with a free outdoor movie event at 7:30 p.m. on the Dublin Public Library lawn.

Restoration Advocates to host family-friendly fundraiser

Restoration Advocates will be hosting a family event, Voices of Change in Stephenville Oct. 14. This special gathering aims to shed light on the critical issue of domestic violence while honoring the women who have overcome adversity with the support of this organization.

Fabric classes on tap this month

Austin Street Fabrics is hosting a slew of classes and fun sewing opportunities in September. On Thursday, Sept. 14 there will be a Hocus Pocus Quilt class from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. (Fee $25). Friday, Sept. 15 will be Junk Journal Club from 1-4 p.m. and Saturday, Sept.

Team C2 hosting fundraiser for DFTS

Local Dancing For The Stars duo Team C2 Darrell Curry and Kayla Conner are raising money for their team with a plated lunch from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 20. Plates are $20 each (cash or checks only) and contain brisket/sausage, potato salad, onions/pickles and dessert.

Police Log

Power lines down in the roadway in the 400 block of Grand. Oncor was contacted and the roadway was shut down until the lines are repaired. A reporting person advised three teenage boys came to his house in the 300 block of North Camden and tried to steal a bike.
