GOOD. Water stained; 54 degrees; 8.79 feet below pool. Black bass to 8.80 pounds are good on Hag’s Bait jigs, jerkbaits and Alabama rigs in 6-12 feet of water. Staging up to a prespawn on the secondary points and mouth of cove pockets. Crappie are fair at the Wild Duck and brush piles on minnows in 12-15 feet of water. White bass are good on cranks and Alabama rigs. Catfish are slow at baited holes.

Texan named WAC newcomer of the week

Tarleton Texan basketball player Devon Barnes earned his first weekly award from the conference after being named the WAC Newcomer of the Week for the past week, the league announced on Monday. Barnes becomes the fourth Texan this season to earn a WAC weekly honor, joining Jakorie Smith, KiAndre Gaddy and Lue Williams, who all won WAC Player of the Week.

Boot Trot 5K set for FW

Ahead of the 2024 PBR (Professional Bull Riders) World Finals: Unleash The Beast, the PBR and Ariat today announced that they will again unite to host a unique 5K/3K fun run during bull riding’s most prestigious event on Saturday, May 11. The race charts a course through the iconic Fort Worth Stockyards. In addition to the PBR Ariat Boot Trot featuring a traditional 5K, runners can also sign-up for a 3K that must be completed in cowboy boots to win.

The Cardinals scrapped with Zephyr in a 42-36 home victory on Feb. 16 so they could keep sharp for the Feb. 20 Bi-District playoff against Walnuts Springs at Hico.
