Lady Lions get the hits

The Dublin Lady Lions racked up hits and homers in a high scoring loss to Early on April 2 on the Dublin Diamond. Cassidy Adair cracked 3 hits in 3 at-bats, which included a solo home run to left field.

Lions keep fight

Dublin Lions logged losses to Peaster and Early last week, but head baseball coach Corde Morris is encouraged to see the players keep their heads up and fighting until the end. “It’s encouraging to see what kids are doing,” he said.

Dubliners place high at District

Dublin High School hosted seven other teams April 3-4 for the UIL 3A-District 8 track meet. DHS is advancing five varsity tracksters to Area competition and had several place high in JV.

Fishing report

GOOD. Water stained; 64 degrees; 8.71 feet below pool. Black bass to 8.08 pounds are excellent on jerkbaits, chatterbaits, spinnerbaits and crankbaits in 3-8 feet of water. Bass are in all stages of the spawn. Crappie are excellent suspended in cove pockets on black and chartreuse jigs, or on brush piles with minnows in 10-12 feet of water. Some crappie are starting to spawn in 1-4 feet of water. White bass are good on crankbaits and small swimbaits. Catfish are good on cut or prepared bait around the flats.

DHS hosts district meet

Lady Lions put links in defense

Although the Dublin Lady Lions softball girls logged losses against Eastland (18-0) and Brock (15-0) headed into the week, the team has made several gains on the diamond. “The last couple of games we have had our defense hold Eastland and Brock to 2 to 3 runs in the first 2 innings,” said DHS head softball coach Vanessa Longoria.

Golfers post best scores at District

Following the second round of district golf, DHS senior Bailey Watson was just 10 strokes from qualifying for the Region 1 golf tournament with a 97. Senior Charlie Rasberry led the Dublin boys with a 90.
