SLOW. Water slightly stained; 46-51 degrees; 8.18 feet below pool. Bass are excellent to 6.50 pounds in 6’-10 feet of water on square bills crankbaits and in 8-15 feet of water on jigs. Crappie are slow on minnows. White bass are slow on jigs. Catfish are fair on cut shad drifting or jug lines.

Lingleville Cardinals claimed a close 49-46 victory over Gorman Jan. 3 in the Lingleville gym. Scoring for the home team was led by Alex Carrizales with 15. The Cards followed this with a large win over Gordon. Carrizales led scoring with 18.

Lingleville Lady Cardinals are 3-2 in their district schedule after a pair of losses last week. They fell to Gorman (55-30) at home on Jan. 3 and to Gordon (42-30) in an away game Jan. 6. District wins have been over Three Way (82- 28), Bluff Dale (77-13) and Strawn (71-41)

Locals honored by Angelo State

Local high school graduates were honored recently as Angelo State University in San Angelo, Texas, announced the students achieving the Dean’s List for the 2022 fall semester. To be eligible for the ASU Dean’s List, full-time undergraduate students must maintain a 3.

Lady Lions fight in Holiday Classic

The Lady Lions went 0-4 at the Brownwood Holiday Classic tournament. “Although we didn’t win, the girls finished better than we started out,” said head Dublin girls basketball coach Kim Perez. “[On Dec. 28,] we played Goldthwaite and lost 60-50.

As the calendar turns, the newest class of Tarleton Hall of Fame studentathletes has been announced. The Tarleton Athletics Hall of Fame will welcome five new members from four storied programs in May as the class of 2023.

Lions 2-2 in tournament

The Dublin Lions went 2-2 in the Brownwood Holiday Classic basketball tournament last week. The Lions started with losses to Gatesville (94-53) and Wall (62-42) before rebounding with wins against Brady (53-48) and Big Spring ( 77- 59).
