Pirates’ life for Pickett

Cooper Pickett is looking forward to his future of playing football for the Southwestern University Pirates in Georgetown. On Wednesday, Feb. 8, Pickett signed to play football as an offensive line guard, complete with $48,000 in scholarships and grants for academic excellence.

The Tarleton community is in mourning after the loss of their longtime assistant football coach Marc Martinez who was killed in a head-on collision Friday, Feb. 10. According to information released by Texas Department of Public Safety State Trooper Sergeant William Lockridge, around 4 a.m.

Kickball tourney set for March

A kickball tournament will be held March 3-4 at Dublin City Park. Thetournamentispresented by the Dublin Baseball and Softball Association. There is an 8 player minimum with a maximum of 12 players. The tournament is for ages 12 and up and costs $25 per person. Registration deadline is Feb. 24.

The Lingleville ISD School Board was informed that the district received an ‘A’ rating in the 2021-‘22 school year TAPR report during the regular meeting on Thursday, Feb. 9. “We’re thrilled with the news,” said Lingleville ISD Superintendent DeeCee McDougal.
