Erath County officials reported that the county had 340 active cases of COVID-19 in its Monday night report. (This was up from 276 active cases reported by county officials on the Monday before.) The county report also showed that hospitalizations had risen from 16 last week to 23.

Dublin has had some exceptional football teams over the years. People will often remember football games from the past or special plays. The same thing went on with Walter Hamilton and Sammy Strong back in 1964 recalling Dublin’s first football team in 1898.

Hico News Review Stray sheep were photographed wandering around Highway 220 on on the evening on Aug. 21 past the Dollar Tree and over to the Church of Christ parking lot. Numerous citizens grabbed pictures of the wandering flock before the owner was located.

Tickets are going fast for the annual Comanche County Healthcare Foundation fundraiser dinner on Sept. 18 that features a prime rib and shrimp dinner and lots of fun with a silent and live auction of unique items. The dinner will be catered by Littlejohn’s at Evans Sale Barn in Proctor.

75 years ago August 30, 1946 The new Colborn Bowl Rodeo Arena, boasting a 10,000 seating capacity, was set to be unveiled during the annual pre-Madison’s Square Garden Championship Rodeo events starting Sept. 12. A committee was organized to get the town decorated for the rodeo.

A tiny “very Irish” shop called Things Celtic, located in the heart of “The Irish Capital of Texas,” has been named Best Specialty Retailer by Gifts and Decorative Accessories magazine. The honor was a part of the magazine’s 2021 Retailer Excellence Awards program.

August 22 At 12:29 a.m. man was captured after breaking into a residence on CR 397, his hands were duct taped and he was held at gunpoint until officers arrived. At 5:02 a.m. a vehicle rolled over and through a fence on FM 219 South, unknown injuries. August 26 At 9:18 a.m.
