Elementary Registration Aug. 5

Registration for PreKindergarten and Kindergarten for 2021 -2022 will be held in the Dublin Elementary Library on Thursday, Aug. 5 from 8:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. - 2:30 p.m.

Dublin Market Days return Aug. 21

August is a busy month, but keep the Dublin Market on your schedule. There will be a flock of vendors of all stripes, from gab and goods to goodies. We expect a selection of fresh local produce, fresh baked goods, and many sorts of jellies, pickles, and other treats.

FBC hosting mobile food pantry

First Baptist Church of Dublin is hosting the Tarrant Area Food Bank Mobile Pantry every 1st Thursday of the month from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. in our church parking lot. —submitted

Dublin Rotary Club members held their annual picnic at the Leatherwood Farm last week at which members were honored for their work on behalf of the community.

EDC okays four applications

The Dublin Economic Development Corporation approved four grants during its regular board meeting on July 27.

MUSEUM MATTERS

People often ask who the artist was of the large portrait paintings in the museum. He was William “Ed” Bryan, a well loved Texas painter who lived in the Dublin area for many years. He was one of Texas leading portrait painters during his time.

100 Years Ago Aug. 6, 1921 Dublin won a game against Stephenville on the local baseball diamond with a score of 16 to 7. Dublin was set to play De Leon on August 7. 75 Years Ago Aug. 9, 1946 Higginbotham Bros. & Co. advertised new items for the upcoming fall season.

Tomas Daniel grew up on a dairy outside of Dublin, and spent his childhood roaming around the countryside. “My friend and I would just be gone all day, from dusk until dawn, and nobody asked us anything,” he said. “We’d come home covered in scrapes and bruises, but nothing serious.
