The Dublin Woman’s Thursday Club met at the Dublin Historical Museum at 4 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 10.

Calling the meeting to order was President Fran Journey with 12 members present and three absent.

Members were reminded to bring paper products and hygiene items for the President’s Project to be given to Transformation Pathway. Several donations were gathered and will be passed on to the ladies who are always so delighted to see these goods.

Minutes of the Oct. 13 meeting were read by Secretary Judith Lemons and approved as read. The group voted to sponsor the book launch that will be held Dec. 10 in the foyer of the new Blackjack Office Center.

Our own Sheryl Reed Rascher will be there offering copies of her book, Erath County (Images of America) and Laura Conner Kestner has completed her Moccasin Rock Series with A Texas Secret. The previous three books will also be available for readers who have not already completed those.

Our program, “Historic Newspapers of Erath County” was presented by Sheryl.

It was very interesting to learn how many newspapers had been published in Erath by communities other than Dublin and Stephenville.

Hearing the history of the different papers that had been published since the 1800’s up to how our present Dublin Citizen came into existence was often surprising and very impressive.

We were so glad to have Wyndi Veigel of the Citizen as our special guest.

She took pictures to help us with the pictorial recording of our 125th anniversary year.

We were formally adjourned at 5:38 p.m. with much visiting and milling about in the museum being enjoyed. Members along with museum curator, Ben Pate, another special guest, had a good time showing Wyndi the old pictures chronicling the Thursday Club’s history.
