Dublin dentist’s service honored with plaque (the good kind)

A new plaque has been installed by the door of Dr. Thomas Carroll’s dentist office, recognizing a pillar of the Dublin community whose practice was there 70 years. “Dr. [Harlan] Raley enjoyed serving several generations of his patents at this very location for 70 years,” the plaque reads.

W.K. Gordon Museum to host history happy hour

Area history buffs are invited to Tarleton State University’s W.K. Gordon Museum at 6 p.m. Friday, March 31, to sample spirits from Sledge Distillery and learn about the history of Thurber, Texas. Tickets are $15 and your empty glass goes home with you. Tickets can be purchased through the W.K.

Jan. 3 There was a welfare request regarding a child who had been sent to Cook’s Childrens hospital. Child had RSV, was prescribed medicine and was OK. Two large dogs were running at large at Trowbridge/S. Park. An officer tried to make contact with the owner but they were not home at the time.

Dublin Garden Club

The Dublin Garden Club held the regular January meeting Wednesday, Jan. 11. Guest speaker was Erin Broumley, landscape designer. Erin has many years experience starting at age 16 at Wolfe Nursery in Stephenville.

Public input sought for Lake Proctor

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) is seeking public input for an update to the master plan and shoreline plan for Proctor Lake. A public meeting will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 19 at the Comanche County Courthouse in the Comanche County Courtroom, located at 101 W. Central Ave.

Annual Love Run 5K, Mile fun run on tap

CWJC/ Transformation Pathway is hosting the Love Run 2023 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run- bring the family for fun for all ages and fitness levels! The event will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 11 starting at the Dublin Public Library.

Texas Senate gets to work on budget

As the Texas legislative session began last week, the Senate is beginning work on the next biennial budget with more revenue to work with, thanks in part to strong sales tax collections and recordbreaking budget surplus.
Dublin VFD responded to a shop fire in the 400 block of West Sheridan on Saturday, Jan. 14. The department arrived to the shop being totally involved, two vehicles on fire, one of which had a ruptured gas tank and flames approaching the home. The crew immediately addressed the fire closest to the home, then applied foam on the gasoline fire so they were able to keep the fire away from the home.
