Council meetings move to 6 p.m.

Dublin City Council meetings have officially moved to the second Monday of each month at 6 p.m. (instead of 6:30) following a vote during a brief regular Council meeting Monday, Jan. 9.

Newspaper closed for MLK Jr. Day

The Dublin Citizen will be closed Monday, Jan. 16 in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. Deadlines will be moved to Tuesday morning. For questions contact publisher@dublincitizen.com. The newspaper will reopen at 8 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 17.

Governor Greg Abbott along with many other officials gave an update on the Chalk Mountain Fire in Somervell County which occurred over the weekend of July 22. Area fire departments assisted with the large fire as the ongoing drought continued to wreak havoc on the area.

Left, Dublin EMS drove in the funeral procession for Andrew Dean, a 21 year-old firefighter paramedic who had worked for the department for several months. He was killed in a motorcycle accident on August 1.

Police Log

There was a report of a disturbance in the 300 block of Eagle Street. An officer checked out on a suspicious vehicle and everything was OK in the 200 block of Johnson Street. There was a report of a storage unit broken into at Central Inn storage.
