HSU honors ex-DHS coach with statue

Former Dublin Head Coach Jimmie Keeling was honored last fall with a statue at Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene for his work with the football program there. Keeling directed the Dublin Lions for two season, with a 10-0 season in 1960 after coming to Dublin from Hamilton.

The Dublin Lions and Lady Lions are returning home Friday night after strong performances in tournament play last week.

Lingleville teams claim home wins

The Lingleville Lady Cardinals and Cardinals posted home wins Friday night after appearing in the Eula Tournament. Lady Cards The Lingleville Lady Cardinals claimed a 57-17 victory against Three-Way at home Friday night.

Dublin PeeWeee Basketball teams have been playing strong this season in the Dublin gyms and away. Two teams even placed high at a tournament in DeLeon last month. Los Chivos (above) took first place.

Texan named All-American

Yet again, Devin Hafford has earned one of the highest honors in the sport. On Dec. 22, Tarleton defensive back Hafford was named to the 2021 American Football Coaches Association FCS All-America First Team.

Thiam makes WAC Player of the Week

Tarleton women’s basketball went 2-0 this past week, largely thanks to Seynabou Thiam’s epic performances. For her efforts, Thiam was named the TicketSmarter Western Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week on Monday. Thiam averaged 12.0 points, 13.0 rebounds, 5.0 blocks and 1.

Ladies beat Brady in home battle

Dublin Lady Lions gather to stop the ball during Friday’s 36-20 win over Brady at home. The girls returned to the home gym on Tuesday where they played Peaster in a game that ended 84-32 in the visitors’ favor. The Lady Lions head to Gordon Tuesday through Dec. 30 for tournament play.
