75 Years Ago Oct. 15, 1945 Navy Chaplain G. Weldon Gatlin was set to speak at the First Methodist Church on Oct. 15. Rev. Gatlin was a survivor of the “ill-fated Franklin”.

October 4-10, 2020, is National Fire Prevention Week. Fire Prevention Week has been an annual event in the U.S. since 1925 and it was President Calvin Coolidge that made the first proclamation. The week is held in October to commemorate the Great Chicago Fire of 1871.

Electronics recycling event set Oct. 23-24

A free electronic recycling event is open to Erath County residents with drop-off locations scheduled for Dublin and Stephenville. Dublin residents will be able to drop off old and outdated electronics locally in the Dublin Annex parking lot (219 S. Grafton) on Friday, Oct. 23 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Jon Mark Hogg, candidate for U. S. Congress in TX-11, visited with voters in De Leon, on Saturday, October 3. District TX-11 covers 29 counties, including parts of Erath County. The discussion began with school choice.
