Ranger postpones Day of Champions

Ranger College President Dr. William J. Campion was forced to do something he didn’t want to do earlier this week. He pushed the pause button on the popular Day of Champions event that is held each year to help improve the City of Ranger.

Electronics recycling event set

A free electronic recycling event is open to Erath County residents with drop-off locations scheduled for Dublin and Stephenville. Dublin residents will be able to drop off old and outdated electronics locally in the Dublin Annex parking lot (219 S. Grafton) on Friday, Oct. 22 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Where Are They Now?

Sammy Gilbert was born in Dublin, and grew up on a farm halfway to Stephenville. “My dad raised cattle out there -- cattle and kids,” he said. “There were six children in the family.” Gilbert has great memories of growing up in Dublin in the 40s and 50s.

Museum Matters

Next time you are getting lunch at Milano’s Pizza, look across the street and you’ll see a building with a concrete holding tank in front. The holding tank has the city logo painted on it. That building also has a wooden structure on top that looks like an oil derrick.

Library to re- open doors

Dublin Public Library will be opening its doors to the public in a soft opening today. Hours will be noon to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday. Guests are required to wear facemasks and hand sanitizer will be available inside the door.

EDC approves grants

The Dublin Economic Development Corporation approved several grants during its regular board meeting and unanimously voted to start meeting the last Tuesday of the month, starting in October. The decision to switch the meeting days stems from scheduling conflicts with other groups.
