Tarleton to play spring game April 20

In advance of the spring football season that is quickly approaching, Tarleton State Football announced Monday a set date for their annual Spring Game.This year’s Spring Game will be played on April 20 at 2 p.m. at Memorial Stadium in Stephenville.

Lions learning from loss

The Dublin Lions baseball boys were working on fundamentals this week following a 22-4 loss to Millsap Wednesday, March 13.Alex Teten, Zak Loper and Aaron Rodriguez each took a turn on the pitcher’s mound but Dublin couldn’t get a good momentum going against the opposition.

The Dublin Lady Lions went 0 for 2 in games across the Spring Break holiday as they squared up against Peaster at home Monday, March 11 and Millsap away Wednesday, March 13.

Lions go 3-for-3 in away games

Dublin Lions went three for three in games over the last week starting with a 4-1 win over former coach Brennan Harris’ Lipan Indians on Tuesday, March 5 at Lipan.Pitcher Zak Loper pitched a complete game, amassing nine strikeouts and 2 walks and only allowing five hits.

Ladies tackle tough trio

The Dublin Lady Lions surrendered three games over the past week heading into the district schedule, getting practice in against three tough opponents.On Tuesday, March 5, the Dublin girls put up 4 against Brock’s 15 in a home loss. Jaylee Black led in hits for Dublin, going 2 for 2 at the plate.

FISHING REPORT

BROWNWOODGOOD. Water stained; 60 degrees; 8.85 feet below pool. Black bass catches to 5.75 pounds are good on Hag’s Bait jigs, jerkbaits and crankbaits in 3-8 feet of water. Bass are in a prespawn in the mouth of cove pockets. Crappie are fair on brush piles using minnows in 6-10 feet of water.

The Stephenville Faith Knights varsity basketball team was recognized by Erath County Commissioner’s court this morning for their outstanding efforts in the 2024 Texas Association of Independent Athletic Organizations (TAIAO) State Tournament in San Antonio on March 1-2.

Ladies snag first victory

The Dublin Lady Lions logged their first win of the season against Strawn in a Feb. 27 home game which ended 2-0.“I’m very proud of the outcome for today’s game,” said DHS head softball coach Vanessa Longoria following the win. “We came out strong and we finished strong.
