CTFS brunch brings caring bunch

Cross Timbers Family Services drew the full 50% capacity (due to the COVID pandemic) to its Better Beginning Brunch Saturday at the N at Hardaway Ranch and raised approximately $15,000 for the Erath County agency and the services it provides.

Erath County officials reported eight new cases of COVID-19 in the report from Thursday night (Jan. 28). Six of these new positive cases were from within the city limits of Stephenville and two were rural residents of the county.

Fishing report

BROWNWOOD Water lightly stained; 52 degrees; 2.75 low. Largemouth bass are slow with crankbaits, spoons, and jigs near creeks, rocky shorelines, and fallen timber. Crappie are fair on minnows in brush piles and timber edge near a creek channel or drop off.

Crop Report

Central district: Consistent rainfalls, including 4-6 inches of snowfall, and cool conditions occurred. Moisture conditions improved dramatically. Pecan harvest continued with very good yields and fair to good quality, but prices were bad. Small grains looked very good.

Tarleton State University’s Dr. Chiquesha Davis has been named an Excellence in End-of-Life Nursing Education Consortium Award winner for 2020. Davis has been a part of the Tarleton faculty for six months. An assistant professor, she heads the Department of Post-Licensure Nursing.
