Council talks election, reports

The Dublin City Council approved the order of elections, reviewed the curfew ordinance and racial profiling report and discussed the sale of city property in a short regular meeting Monday night. The seats of Darrell Curry and Sammy Moore are up for re-election May 1.

Although Dublin’s newest police officer didn’t originally intend to become an officer, he is no stranger to the Dublin PD. Garret Collins, 24, is the son of Dyrel Collins, who retired from the Dublin PD and previously served with Stephenville PD, Richland Hills and the Midland Sheriff’s Office.

Historic Mason courthouse destroyed by fire

The historic 111-year-old Mason County courthouse in Mason, Texas was destroyed by an overnight fire between Feb. 4 and Feb. 5. Mason County Judge Jerry Bearden reported that the courthouse, which was set to begin renovations in May, caught fire around 10 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 4.

Erath County officials reported seven new cases of COVID-19 in the report from Thursday night (Feb. 4). All seven of these new positive cases were from within the city limits of Stephenville. Total deaths since March were reported at 56 by the Department of State Health Services.
