100 years ago June 17, 1921 Dublin’s third Dollar Day specials were listed. Businesses such as Higginbotham Bros & Co., Dublin Drug & Jewelry, NOVIT Cash Store, Hoffman’s, East Side Grocery Co., Wilhite & Fulford and Overton Drug Company advertised items that would be on sale.

Comanche Chief The Comanche County Library has a new director. Deborah Hanson has taken up the position after the retirement of Hollis McCaright. Hanson has participated as a library assistant at the Comanche Public Library over the last year.

POLICE LOG

June 7 Reporting person came into the station to report that her dog was bit by another dog as they were walking on Valley. An officer advised that he would go on patrol to see if he could find the animal and make contact with the owner and take further action.

SHERIFF’S REPORT

June 5 At 8:08 p.m. a motorcycle hydroplaned into a tree and came to rest up against a fence on Hwy 220 leaving the driver in shock and delirious but not injured. At 9:40 p.m. two bed mattresses were removed from the roadway of 377 South. At 11:43 p.m.

Old Doc’s to remain closed for now

Dublin Bottling Works has announced that Old Doc’s Soda Shop and its museums will remain closed currently, but it will continue to maintain the sales center in the front office Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

City Council sells property

The Dublin City Council met for a brief regular meeting on Monday night and voted for the following: ■ Approved selling property R67150 to Keith Nichols for $716 plus the cost of closing.

Irish Stampede

More than 100 runners hit the Dublin streets for the return of the Lions Club Irish Stampede 10-5-2K honoring National Dairy Month. Winners got commemorative milk bottles while medals were presented by DHS cheerleaders Paul Gaudette | Citizen staff photo

Tour De Agua

Cyclists warmed up and checked their equipment at the Dublin Secondary School parking lot before taking off on the 38.5 Tour De Agua course. The bike ride raises money for Kids Across Cultures and its mission of providing education, clean water and more to communities in need across the globe.

Dublin Area Reunion returns

The community building between First National Bank and Dairy queen was filled with former classmates and longtime friends as the Dublin Area Reunion returned Saturday. Guests enjoyed snacks and conversation and glanced through class albums as well as many historical albums brought by Tom Rogers.

Bills aimed at energy reform

On June 8, Governor Greg Abbott signed Senate Bills 2 and 3 into law to reform the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) and weatherize and improve the reliability of the state’s power grid.
