Dublin Market Days return May 15 The May Dublin Market will be here sooner than you expect—the third Saturday being almost the second. Mark your calendars for May 15, 9 a.m. through 1 p.m. More than two-dozen vendors have signed up.

MUSEUM MATTERS

We have a book called “The Frontier Postmasters” written by Homer Stephen that has been donated to the museum. The book contains a wealth of knowledge about early history of North Texas. In it Mr. Stephen wrote about his mother and I wanted to print it here in Museum Matters for Mother’s Day.

Appraisal notices sent

Property owners across Erath County should have received their new 2021 property appraisal notices from the Erath County Appraisal District. The notices were mailed on Monday, April 19, and for most, the news will be a mixed blessing.

100 years ago May 6, 1921 The Dublin Creamery posted the prices for their ice cream with ½ gallon of plain for $1.10 (with fruit for $1.25) and one full gallon of plain for $2.00 (with fruit for $2.35). Deliveries were made on week days from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday 7 a.m. to 12 p.m.

If you are a Christian, there are many different ways to serve God. Dublin graduate Lynda Randals Hail’s opportunity came in the form of a job as a business office manager at a monastery. For the 14 years she worked there, she’d take care of the monks, and be there for them when they needed her.

Erath County officials reported two new cases of COVID-19 in the report from Monday, May 3 that was released the next morning. Both of the positive cases were within the city limits of Stephenville Total deaths since March were reported at 68 by the Department of State Health Services.

Petey Gomez has been selected to receive this year’s Bob Sohm Memorial Vocational Scholarship from the Dublin Lions Club. This $500 scholarship is only given when there is a highly qualified vocational student who plans to advance in his field.

April 25 At 6:18 a.m. tires were seen being dumped into a creek at the bridge just past the spur on CR 351. At 8:15 p.m. a brown and white cow with a right ear tag was secured on CR 279. April 26 At 10:39 a.m. a darkcolored calf with a white ear tag was lost on CR 299. April 27 At 1:17 p.m.
