Rodeo Museum to unleash ‘Secrets’

From 1937 to 1959, Dublin hosted one of the largest, most famous rodeos of the time. But then it all but disappeared. What happened? Come discover the “Secrets of the Dublin Rodeo Heritage” on August 14 from 1-5 p.m, hosted by the Dublin Rodeo Heritage Museum.

COVID Update

The Texas Department of State Health Services reported that Erath County had an estimated 81 active cases of COVID-19 when it released its weekly update Monday. DSHS also reported that the county has had 2,976 confirmed cases and 1,438 probable cases since the pandemic started in March 2020.

DeLeon Peach & Melon Returns

The DeLeon Peach and Melon Festival returns promising a full schedule of fun. This year’s entries include: Wednesday, August 4th 11:00 a.m. ■ Judging of 4-H Cake Entries – Festival Stage 12:00 p.m. ■ Judging of Peach Desserts – Festival Stage 1:00 p.m.

A History of the P&M Festival

DeLeon’s Peach & Melon Festival was taken from materials gleaned from the DeLeon Free Press and from an article in DeLeon’s Monitor, believed to have been written by Phil Tate, that were eventually compiled by Jerry Morgan. However, the article has been shortened and revised for space purposes.

July 24 At 1:03 a.m. a man called 911 after running into a ditch and hitting a fence on Hwy 6 East. He was arrested for DWI. At 4:43 p.m. a cow has been penned for 3 or 4 days on CR 213, awaiting owner. At 7:56 p.m.

DISD offers free, reduced price meals for ‘21-’22

Dublin ISD announced recently that this school year (2021-2022), healthy meals will be offered every school day to all students at no cost. Typically, a student’s household must meet income eligibility requirements to qualify for free or reduced-price meals.
