The Comanche Chief Russell Johnson was sworn in as a new Comanche City Council member, filling the seat that was held by Shane Stalnacker. Johnson is a native of Dublin and graduated from DHS in 1986.

75 Years Ago Dec. 27, 1946 The Erath County Vocations School for Veterans was meeting three times weekly at Dublin High School with 20 students enrolled. John C. Wilson was leading a business administration class. Students were also provided lessons in English and Developing Personality.

Jan Siegel Hart

When Jan Siegel Hart was at Dublin High School in the 1950s, her English teacher, Mrs. Caraway, encouraged her to write. “I’d written some poems and she said she wanted to see them. After reading them she told me I should send them to the National High School Poetry Association.

Setting the Table

Dublin First United Methodist Church recently received a check for $1,500 from the Terrell Foundation for the church’s Community Table program, which provides free meals to the community the last Wednesday of every month.

SHERIFF'S REPORT

December 11 At 9:10 p.m. a vehicle was found split in half after hitting a tree on CR 209 near FM 2481. No one was found inside. December 12 At 2:43 p.m. a large grass fire was seen near houses on CR 307 and spreading fast before being put out. December 13 At 3:19 p.m.

Shop with a Cop a Success

Tuesday was the second annual Shop with a Cop for Erath County.

POLICE LOG

December 6 Dublin PD was informed of activity in a vacant house on Harris. December 7 A subject reported a white dog was running loose on May Street. Dublin PD was contacted by Comanche Police to assist with a vehicle on Highway 67 about a hit and run that happened in the area.

Dublin Bands stage sounds of the season

The Roy and Lynn Neff Gym was standing room only on Thursday night as the Dublin ISD bands presented their annual Christmas concert. The Sound of Dublin, Intermediate and Beginner bands all sat on the gym floor at the same time, alternating performances and joining together for holiday favorites.

Holiday drivers urged to move over

As they travel Texas roadways during the Christmas and New Year’s holidays, motorists are urged to slow down or move over for stopped emergency vehicles including tow trucks, police cars and fire trucks.
