Dublin Market Days July 16 Mark your calendars: Dublin Market Days on July 16, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will be a flock of vendors of all stripes, from gab and goods to goodies. We expect a selection of fresh local produce, fresh baked goods, and many sorts of jellies, pickles, and other treats.

In 1964, The Dublin Hospital had a problem. They needed nurses to attend patients, but finding trained nurses was difficult. On the other hand, many women in town wanted a good job. The solution seemed to be for Dublin Hospital to start its own LVN school for nurses. Local nurse Mildred Whitt R.N.

Tarleton professor receives TxDOT grant

Tarleton State University Professor Dr. Fei Wang in the Department of Mechanical, Environmental and Civil Engineering and his collaborator, Dr. Jie Huang at UT San Antonio, were recently awarded a grant by the Texas Department of Transportation.

June 20 Reporting person in the 300 block of North Camden advised the neighbor’s dog was out, not on a leash and aggressive. Officer spoke with owner and told them it must be leashed, in the house or in a fence and that if it happens again they could receive a citation.

75 years ago July 4, 1947 The Ranger Junior Chamber of Commerce was holding its second annual rodeo and roundup with Dublin’s Howard Brown as director of the show. The event was set for July 30-Aug. 1 at the Jaycee’s $30,000 rodeo arena in Ranger with over $3,000 in prizes to be awarded.

Two new deputies are now calling Erath County Sheriff’s Office home. With Sheriff Matt Coates are Deputy Taylor Williams and Deputy Julian Matlack. Both graduated from the Weatherford College Law Enforcement academy in late June.
