As Texas fruit growers battle unpredictable chill hours and late spring freezes, a small, but growing, group is turning to lesser-known or “alternative” fruit crops in search of more resilient and profitable options.

Tarleton announces name of events center slated for fall

Tarleton State and EECU, one of the largest locally-owned financial institutions in North Texas, have announced a naming rights agreement for the university’s new event center. The formal naming of the venue to the EECU Center was approved today by The Texas A&M System Board of Regents.

Stampede, reunion set for next weekend

Next week brings the return of the annual Irish Stampede and allclass reunion, offering a chance for happy feet and faces.The Dublin Irish Stampede 10K5K-2K Run, hosted by the Dublin Lions Club, will kick off at 7:30 a.m. Saturday, June 14 by the Dublin Public Library.

CR 386 under repair in June

From Staff ReportsErath County crews are rebuilding CR386 (also known as Water Tower Road) from CR387 to CR461.The process started Monday, June 2 and is expected to take 5 to 6 weeks. The road will be closed to through traffic on some work days from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Dublin Lion power is on display as varsity football players are heading to state competition in the Lineman challenge. The event will be held at Hardin-Simmons University Saturday, June 21 at 9 a.m.
Proctor Lake Army Corps of Engineers Park Rangers and Bobber the Water Safety Dog visit Dublin Public Library Saturday, May 31 as part of the Summer Reading Program. Kids in attendance learned about ways to aid drowning victims while keeping themselves safe and information about life jackets.
