Burn ban now in effect

A burn ban is now in effect for the next 90 days after it was put in place by the Erath County Commissioners Monday, Sept. 22.Erath County Fire Marshal Tommy Shelton told the commissioners Monday that the drought index was 605, or abnormally dry.

County lowers tax rate

Erath County Commissioners voted unanimously Monday, Sept. 22 to lower the tax rate effectively saving the average homeowner about $25 a year.The court set the tax rate at the no new revenue rate of $.3811 per $100 valuation for Fiscal Year 2025, lower than the 2024 rate of $.
