SHERIFF’S REPORT

December 26 At 10:55 a.m. a large fire possibly caused by a downed electric line was put out by several area fire departments on CR 359 and CR 351. At 3:41 p.m. another large grass fire broke out on FM 2303. At 3:59 p.m. and another grass fire erupted on CR 125 which took 3 hours to put out.

POLICE LOG

December 28 A disturbance was reported between a female and male, the female subject left and the male was following her on Courtney. A report was made of loud music coming from their neighbors on Camden. December 30 A burglary alarm was going off on the 200 block of Patrick.
Many people were made sick or crippled by Infantile Paralysis or Polio. The paralysis was caused by the disease attacking the nervous system. Polio was a disease that was feared by everyone. An otherwise healthy person could become paralyzed or lose their life after contracting the disease. So when an immunization was finally created, everyone wanted it. Shots became available in Dublin in 1961. Dr. Cole and Dr.

GLO announces kids art contest

Texas Land Commissioner George P. Bush announced the 2021 “Treasures of the Texas Coast Children’s Art Contest” is open for entries. All Texas students (public, private, and home-schooled) in grades K-6 are encouraged to participate.

EDC funds innovators

The Dublin Economic Development Corporation created a new grant for job creation and immediately awarded the first to Jarhead Fabrication, a new Dublin business with its eyes on innovating industry.

Erath Jr. Stock Show underway

The Erath County Jr. Livestock Show started Tuesday and organizers have made some changes to the schedule and routine to make it safe for all its entrants and spectators, including offering an online option for the auction.

Dreaming of a White New Year’s

Dublin missed a white Christmas by a week as snow began falling on the night of Jan. 31, blanketing the town in white as the community celebrated the arrival of 2021. Flakes continued to fall well into the night with the town receiving a reported 4.5 inches of snow.
