DQ hosts free swim

Dairy Queen is sponsoring a fun way to beat the heat with its annual Splash Day at the Dublin city pool. Dublin Dairy Queen is hosting free swim day again at the Dublin City Pool from noon to 5 p.m. on Wednesday, July 20.

DISD students get free supplies

For the third year in a row, all Dublin ISD students are being provided with free school supplies on behalf of the district. “I’m glad we can do this to help families in the district,” said Dublin ISD Superintendent Melissa Summers. “Parents have enough stress [with other expenses].

A variety of new books and prizes are available at the Dublin Public Library at a scholastic book fair type event for those who complete their reading logs. Kids get to choose three books to own along with three prizes.

Schools review safety audits

On June 30, Gov. Greg Abbott and the Texas Education Agency released a list of required safety steps for all schools before the start of the fall semester. These steps include each Local Education Agency (LEA) conducting a summer targeted partial safety audit and an exterior door safety audit.

Humane Society seeks help

The Erath County Humane Society is seeking a new home and support from the county for a new facility with lots more space.

City Council briefed on upcoming events

The Dublin City Council reviewed plans for upcoming events during its regular meeting Monday night, which also featured the 2020 audit and Board of Adjustments action. Representatives of two groups were on-hand to request street closures for their events.

DHS represented at FCCLA nationals

Dublin was well represented in the national FCCLA Leadership Conference as 2022 DHS grads Angie Flores and Veronica Rodriguez joined more than 5,000 students from middle school to collegiate level competing in a variety of events.
