Hispanic Fall festival set for St. Mary’s

This September brings not just one chance to have fun and honor our local Hispanic culture but two!The Knights of Columbus will be hosting the first event, the Hispanic Fall Festival, Saturday, Sept. 13 from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. in the lot by St. Mary’s Catholic Church on Hwy 377.

Fire razes cabinet business

It was all hands on deck for a major structure fire at Cutting Edge Cabinets located on Hwy. 377 between Dublin and Stephenville.The fire occurred around 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 21 and the buildings and all contents are a complete loss, according to Erath County Fire Marshal Tommy Shelton.

A major step on Erath County’s Joint Dispatch Center was approved Monday as pre-construction/ construction go ahead was given the nod of approval.The center will be located in the old tax office as a major conversion and expansion takes place.

Downtown roads narrowed for work

Starting Tuesday, Aug. 26, the east and westbound travel lanes of SH 6 (Blackjack) have been narrowed at the intersection with Business 67(Patrick Street) to facilitate project work at the intersection.Wide loads including farming equipment are encouraged to seek alternate routes.

Family Fun Day to be hosted Saturday

 The Stephenville/Dublin KOA will be hosting a family fun day Saturday, Aug. 30 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.Attractions will included bounce houses, water slide, pedal cars, Connect 4, Giant Jenga and more, along with a cornhole contest. Admission is $5 for the public and free to guests of the park.

County, city rolling out tire collection

Erath County and the City of Dublin are hosting a free tire disposal event Saturday. Sept. 6 at the public works yard (602 N. Norton).Tires will be collected from 8 a.m. to noon or until the trailer is full.
