When Debbie Harbin Steiner graduated from Dublin High School in 1973, she didn’t have a clear plan. “I really wasn’t sure what I wanted to do,” she said. “But I just stumbled into something that ended up being my life’s work — something I’ve really loved.” That something was nursing.

Tarleton library awarded grant

Tarleton State University’s Dick Smith Library has been selected as one of 200 libraries to participate in “Libraries Transforming Communities: Focus on Small and Rural Libraries.” More than 300 libraries applied for the grant.

COVID Update

Erath County officials reported 34 new cases of COVID-19 in the report f r o m Monday night (Jan. 25) that was released Tuesday. Fifteen of these new positive cases were from within the city limits of Stephenville, one was from Dublin and 18 were rural residents of the county.

Dublin Elementary Awards

Dublin Elementary School released the award winners from the fall 2020 semester. Winners inlcude Little Lion Leaders and honor roll honorees which are featured by the Dublin Citizen throughout the school year.

LJH students place high in UIL

Lingleville ISD had to withdraw early from UIL competition this year when the school shutdown due to COVID reasons in December, but not before many of its Junior High students placed high in the spelling and writing events.

Vaccine center set for Erath

Erath County Officials announced that a vaccination center will be set up in the former Stephenville JC Penney/ FFO Building (2900 W. Washington, Suite 92), and it is anticipated to be open today (Jan. 28) or tomorrow (Jan. 29).

Burn Ban lifted

Following several days of rainfall, the Erath County Commissioners’ Court lifted the burn ban ordinance that was in effect for Erath County on Tuesday. Those who are wanting to burn are advised to use caution and call the Erath County Sheriff’s Office (965-3338) in advance. —Citizen staff report

ECSO gets SKY high donation

Erath County Sheriff’s Office’s newest asset is able to travel at 42 miles per hour and see from the sky. That’s because an estimated $5,000 in equipment, including a drone or unmanned aerial vehicle, was donated to the department on Jan.
