Lions complete record season

The Dublin Lions ended the 2021-22 season as Area Champions when they fell to the Gunter Tigers 62-20. This score marked the most any opponent has scored against the 13-0 Gunter all season. “Gunter is a very good team,” said Dublin Head Football Coach Greg Hardcastle.

The Dublin Lions traveled to Lingleville Nov. 23 for their first game of the season as they fought to a 87-67 loss to the home team. The Lions returned with bigger numbers (following the finish of the football season) Tuesday as they faced Stephenville in the Neff Gym at Dublin Secondary.

The Dublin Lady Lions hosted the Tolar Rattlers Nov. 23, falling 54-27 to the visitors. The Dublin girls traveled to DeLeon Tuesday before returning today for the DAB basketball tournament. They will face Goldthwaite at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Crawford at 3:30 p.m. on Friday and Coleman at 3:30 p.m.

Lions picked for All-District honors

The 2021-22 Dublin Lions boasted many honors as 5-3A D-II All-District selections were announced following the ending of their season. Senior Javier Parra tied with Chris Delgado of Merkel as Defensive MVP.

The Dublin Lions were named Bi-District Champions after a fiercely fought 38-33 victory over the Callisburg Wildcats at Boyd Friday night. Dublin Lions Coach Greg Hardcastle called the Lions’ playing efficient with Dublin scoring 7 times in their eight possessions.

Lady Lions earn honors

Eight Dublin Lady Lions volleyball players were recently presented with post-season honors as district selections were announced. Senior Kylie Olvera was named 1st Team All-District and received Academic All-District Honors.

Dublin Lady Lions end season in playoffs

The Dublin Lady Lions ended their season in the first round of playoffs on Nov. 2 with a season record of 16-12 and district record of 8-6. The Dublin girls fell 3-0 against the Holliday Eagles. —Paul Gaudette

Lions headed to play-offs

Dublin is headed to the Bi-District playoffs as they play Callisburg Wildcats at Boyd at 7 p.m. Admission is $5 with tickets available at the gate. This playoff follows a 40-39 nail-biter against the Eastland Mavericks Friday under the Cervetto Field lights.
